The Skinergist - Client Care and Aftercare

Last Updated: March 9, 2026

Your skin journey begins with understanding your skin, your goals, and what your skin is truly ready for. Every treatment is chosen with intention, clarity, and respect for your skin barrier.

This page is here to help you feel prepared, know what to expect, and understand how each treatment supports long‑term skin health. To create the most aligned and effective plan for your goals, your commitment and consistency are essential — when we both show up fully, your results can unfold in the most supported, sustainable way.

Start With a Consultation

Before booking any advanced treatment, a consultation is required. This allows us to evaluate your skin safely and intentionally so we can choose the treatment that truly aligns with your goals, your skin’s current condition, and the health of your barrier.

During your consultation, Raquel will review your skin history, identify sensitivities or contraindications, assess what your skin is ready for, and set clear, realistic expectations for your journey. This is also where we create a personalized plan designed to support your skin barrier, honor your long‑term results, and move toward your goals in a way that feels aligned and sustainable.

Your level of commitment and consistency is essential — when we work together with intention, your skin has the opportunity to transform in the most supported, effective way.

This step ensures every treatment is performed with clarity, intention, and purpose.

Preparing for Your Visit

Arriving prepared helps your treatment work more effectively and ensures your skin receives the full benefit of care.

  • Pause all retinoids, exfoliants, and acids for 48–72 hours beforehand to protect your skin barrier and prevent irritation.

  • Avoid all serums and active ingredients for at least 24 hours before your appointment, including retinols, retinoids, vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, exfoliating serums, and anything that may conflict with treatment.

  • Avoid waxing or shaving for 24–48 hours before your appointment.

  • Avoid tanning beds and prolonged sun exposure for 72 hours before treatment.

  • Discontinue active breakout treatments (unless medically prescribed) 48 hours prior.

  • If you’ve had injectables, follow your provider’s recommended wait time before booking.

  • Arrive with a clean, makeup‑free face.

  • Stay well‑hydrated.

  • Come ready to share your skin goals so Raquel can create the most aligned treatment plan for you.

  • Bring a list or photo of your current skincare products.

  • Notify Raquel of any allergies, sensitivities, or recent procedures.

  • Arrive a few minutes early to settle in and breathe before your session begins.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

Each appointment begins with an open, thoughtful dialogue about your skin, your daily rhythms, and the results you’re working toward. Raquel tailors every session to meet your skin exactly where it is — physically, energetically, and within your nervous system — because true skin health is deeply interconnected.

You’ll experience a soothing, supportive atmosphere; a treatment plan designed specifically for your needs; mindful, intuitive techniques; clear education; and honest guidance without pressure. Every visit is an opportunity to unwind, rebalance your nervous system, and nurture your skin with intention for long‑term, sustainable results.

After Your Treatment

Your skin may feel refreshed, hydrated, or slightly sensitive depending on the service.

General aftercare includes avoiding sweating, hot yoga, saunas, and steam for 24 hours; avoiding makeup for the rest of the day; avoiding exfoliants, retinoids, and actives for 3–5 days; using gentle, hydrating products; protecting your skin with SPF daily; and following any treatment‑specific instructions provided. If anything feels unusual, reach out directly.
